Personalised Photo Blankets: The Complete Gift Guide

Personalised photo collage fleece blanket printed with family photos, made in Yorkshire

If you're hunting for a gift that's soft, practical and properly personal, personalised photo blankets are very hard to beat. This guide is for anyone buying for Mum, Dad, the grandparents, a new baby or a whole household this Christmas, and it walks you through our favourite designs, how to pick the right photos, what size to choose and what to know before you order.

Every one of our blankets is designed, printed and sewn to order at our own family factory in Yorkshire, just down the road from Haworth. So when we say we know a thing or two about photo blankets, it's because we spend most of our days surrounded by them (it's a tough life, but someone has to test how cosy they are).

Why Personalised Photo Blankets Make Such Good Gifts

Most gifts get opened, admired for about four minutes and then quietly put in a drawer. A photo blanket is the opposite. It ends up on the sofa, at the foot of the bed or wrapped around someone's shoulders while they watch the telly, and it gets used every single evening from October to March. In a British winter, that's a lot of evenings.

There's also the emotional bit. A blanket printed with family photos turns an everyday object into something people treasure. Grandparents keep them over the back of their armchair so the grandchildren are always "there". Couples use them for film nights. Students take them off to university so home doesn't feel quite so far away. It's a gift that's both useful and meaningful, which is surprisingly rare.

And because you design it yourself, nobody else in the world will have the same one. You won't find yours on the high street, and you definitely won't find it in the bargain bin in January.

What Our Photo Blankets Are Made From

Before we get to the designs, here are the facts straight from our product pages, so you know exactly what you're buying:

  • Fabric: 370gsm ultra-plush, cuddle-soft luxury fleece.
  • Sizes: most designs come in Standard (150cm x 150cm) or Baby (75cm x 75cm). A few designs are available in the Standard size only, so check the options on each product page.
  • Prices: Baby size from £19.99 and Standard size £34.99 on the designs featured below.
  • Printing: vibrant dye-sublimation printing with environmentally friendly water-based inks.
  • Care: machine washable at 30°C, drip dry only.
  • Where: designed, printed and made to order in Yorkshire, England.

One honest note from the factory floor: you may see small flecks of white in the print on some fleece blankets. That's down to the nature of the fabric and the printing process rather than a fault. If you're curious about how the printing and sewing actually happens, our post on how your products are made takes you behind the scenes.

Our Favourite Personalised Photo Blankets for Christmas

We make a lot of blanket designs (the full range of personalised fleece blankets is well worth a scroll), but these are the ones we reach for when someone asks us, "What should I get for Christmas?"

1. Create Your Own Photo Blanket

Create your own personalised photo blanket in soft fleece, designed with your own photo

What it is: a completely blank canvas. You upload your photo and design the whole blanket yourself in our online designer.

Perfect for: anyone with one absolutely brilliant photo. A wedding shot, a holiday sunset, the whole family squashed onto one sofa, or the dog looking unusually majestic.

Why it works: a single large image has real impact at 150cm x 150cm. It becomes a piece of art you can actually snuggle under.

Personalisation idea: use a landscape photo from a favourite family holiday spot, so Gran can "go back" every time she puts her feet up.

Design yours with the Create Your Own Photo Blanket.

2. Photo Collage Fleece Blanket

Photo collage personalised fleece blanket printed with lots of family photos

What it is: a blanket packed with lots of your photos arranged in a collage.

Perfect for: grandparents, parents and anyone who struggles to pick just one favourite picture (that's most of us).

Why it works: a collage tells a story. A year in photos, every grandchild in one place, or a "best bits" round-up of a milestone birthday. It's the gift that gets passed around the room on Christmas morning while everyone points and says "Oh, I remember that!"

Personalisation idea: make a "2026 in pictures" blanket with one photo from each month. It's a lovely way to look back on the year.

3. Christmas Tartan 8 Photo Blanket

Christmas tartan personalised photo blanket with eight family photos

What it is: a festive red tartan design with space for eight photos.

Perfect for: the person who goes all in on Christmas. You know the one. The tree is up before Bonfire Night and the Christmas jumpers come out in November.

Why it works: it looks wonderfully cosy draped over the sofa during the festive season, and tartan is classic enough that it doesn't look out of place in January either.

Personalisation idea: fill it with photos from Christmases gone by, from first Christmas babygrows to the year someone set fire to the pudding.

4. Christmas Trees Photo Blanket

What it is: a softer, wintry Christmas design with a blue tree pattern around your photos.

Perfect for: people who love the festive feeling but prefer something a little calmer than red and green.

Why it works: it's seasonal without shouting about it, so it suits a modern living room and works as a winter throw well beyond Boxing Day.

Personalisation idea: add snowy walk photos, sledging days or the annual "everyone in matching pyjamas" picture.

5. Family Dad 9 Photo Blanket

Personalised Dad photo fleece blanket with nine family photos, a Christmas gift for Dad

What it is: a nine photo blanket designed with Dad in mind.

Perfect for: dads who claim they don't want anything for Christmas, then spend all of January "borrowing" everyone else's blanket.

Why it works: dads can be notoriously tricky to buy for. This one is useful, it's sentimental without being soppy, and it gives him his very own blanket to defend on the sofa.

Personalisation idea: mix sweet family photos with a few of his finest moments, such as the questionable barbecue outfit or the time he fell asleep in the deckchair.

6. Together is My Favourite 8 Photo Blanket

Together is My Favourite personalised photo blanket with eight photos for couples and families

What it is: an eight photo blanket with a warm message about time spent together.

Perfect for: couples, best friends, siblings and families who live apart and miss each other.

Why it works: the message does a lot of the emotional heavy lifting for you, which is handy if you're more of a "hug and say nothing" type than a card writer.

Personalisation idea: choose photos of your favourite days out together, then gift it with the promise of another one in the new year.

7. Your Face All Over Blanket

What it is: exactly what it sounds like. One face, printed all over the blanket, again and again.

Perfect for: siblings, best mates, cheeky partners and anyone whose sense of humour is a little bit unhinged.

Why it works: it's a proper laugh-out-loud moment when it's unwrapped, but it's still a genuinely soft, warm blanket that'll get used. The joke keeps on giving every time someone walks into the living room.

Personalisation idea: use your own face so they never forget you, or (better still) their own most unflattering photo. For double trouble, there's also a two-face version at £34.99.

Make mischief with the Your Face All Over Photo Fleece Blanket. If funny gifts are your thing, our guide to funny personalised Christmas gifts for 2026 has plenty more ideas.

8. Memorial Photo Blankets

In Loving Memory personalised photo blanket, a gentle memorial gift

Christmas can be a difficult time for anyone missing someone special. A memorial photo blanket offers quiet comfort, a way to keep a loved one close during the moments when they're missed the most.

Our In Loving Memory Photo Fleece Blanket combines treasured photos with a gentle remembrance design. You'll find other thoughtful keepsakes in our memorial gifts collection.

If you're giving one to someone who is grieving, choose a photo that shows the person as they'd most like to be remembered: relaxed, smiling and themselves.

A Note for Pet Lovers

Pets are family too, and our pet portrait blankets turn a photo of your dog or cat into an illustrated design. There's even a festive Christmas Wreath Pet Portrait Blanket. For more four-legged gift ideas, see our guide to personalised gifts for dog lovers.

Which Size Photo Blanket Should You Choose?

Most of our photo blankets come in two sizes, and the right one depends on who it's for and how it'll be used.

Standard (150cm x 150cm)

This is our generous, extra-large size. It's big enough to snuggle two people on the sofa, layer over a bed, or take outdoors as a photo picnic blanket. For adults, couples, families and grandparents, this is the one we'd recommend. It also gives your photos more room, which is especially helpful on collage designs with lots of pictures.

Baby (75cm x 75cm)

The smaller size is lovely for babies and toddlers, for a pram or car seat, or as a lap blanket. It's also a great option if you're keeping to a budget, with prices from £19.99 on the designs above. Bear in mind that with less space, photos are printed smaller, so choose clear, close-up images. Always follow safe sleep guidance for babies and keep loose blankets out of cots.

Practical Tips for Designing Your Photo Blanket

A photo blanket is only as good as the photos you put on it. Here's what we've learned from printing a great many of them.

Choose sharp, well-lit photos

Pick photos taken in good natural light where faces are clear and in focus. Blurry, dark or heavily filtered pictures will look the same (or worse) when they're printed large. Our full guide on how to choose the best photo for personalised gifts goes into lighting, resolution and cropping in more detail.

Use the original file, not a screenshot

Screenshots and photos saved from social media or messaging apps are often compressed, which means they lose detail. Where you can, upload the original photo straight from your phone's camera roll or computer.

Mix close-ups with wider shots

On collage blankets, a mix works brilliantly. Use close-ups for faces and save the wider scenic photos for the bigger spaces. Too many tiny group shots can make the design feel busy.

Think about the colours

Choose a design that suits the photos and the room it'll live in. Bright, colourful photos look great against the tartan; softer, black and white or neutral-toned photos sit nicely with calmer designs.

Keep text simple

If your design includes names or a message, keep it short and check the spelling carefully. Please don't use emojis in your personalisation, as our software doesn't support them.

Order in good time for Christmas

Every blanket is made to order, so it needs time to be printed, sewn and delivered. Christmas is our busiest time of year, and order volumes rise quickly in November and December. We always recommend ordering as early as you can. Check the individual product page and our shipping policy for current production and delivery times and any Christmas cut-off dates.

Things to Consider Before You Buy

We'd rather you love your blanket than be surprised by it, so here are a few honest points to think about.

  • Photo quality matters most. We print what you upload. Low-resolution or blurry images will show, especially on the large size.
  • Who it might not suit. If someone prefers a very minimalist home or isn't keen on photos of themselves, a subtle design or a pet portrait might go down better than a full face collage.
  • Size and space. At 150cm x 150cm, the Standard blanket is big. Great for sofas and beds, but the Baby size may be better for a small armchair or a little one.
  • Print texture. As mentioned, small white flecks can sometimes appear in the print because of the fleece fabric and printing process.
  • Washing. Machine wash at 30°C and drip dry only. Skip the tumble dryer and the radiator.
  • Timing. Personalised gifts take longer than off-the-shelf ones. Allow time for production and delivery, especially in the run-up to Christmas.
  • Paying. Klarna and Clearpay are available at checkout if you'd like to spread the cost.
